Starbucks Refill Policy

December 30, 2005Posted by Chris Tingom

Starbucks Gossip is holding a spirited debate about the Starbucks refill policy. The debate surrounds the topic that people try to scam Starbucks by bringing in old cups.

Up until last week I didn’t even know about the refill policy. I suppose I should have wondered. I can’t find much information online about the policy, however from reading I understand you can expect a refill to consist of drip coffee and cost between nothing and 50 cents. You can usually get a refill no matter what you originally ordered.

Here’s to many refills and a great 2006!

Merry Christmas from me at Arizona Coffee!

Welcome Images AZ Readers

December 22, 2005Posted by Chris Tingom

I was interviewed recently by Stephanie Palenque who is a writer for Images AZ Magazine here in Phoenix. I mention it because she interviewed me about coffee in Phoenix!

Check out the interview at the Images AZ site under the subhead of coffee resources. Most of the interview resides around me saying where the best places to get coffee are at. Of course I had to say that the Spanish Latte at La Grande Orange is my favorite (still is).

I wanted to also mention to any first time visitors that Arizona Coffee (where you are now) is working very hard to be the premier online destination to learn about coffee shops and coffee culture in Phoenix. Stay tuned as we bring you tons of new reviews and coffee buzz in 2006 all from the Chris Tingom personal perspective.

Thanks Stephanie for the interview!

More Latte Art

December 12, 2005Posted by Chris Tingom

Barista’s in Arizona don’t do enough coffee art if you want my opinion. It’s probably due to the sheer quantity of drinks made in a typical day. After 50 drinks who has the motivation to carefully craft each drop of foam? Not to mention most drinks are to-go and have a lid.

I would be interested in interviewing barista’s who can make latte art like this and would be willing to have some photos taken.

Check out these awesome photos from the Netherlands 2005 Latte Art Championship. Here’s how to do it.

That red cup campaign is now in phase two

December 7, 2005Posted by Chris Tingom

So Starbucks has taken the red cup and moved it into a full fledged marketing idea. I think it’s brilliant yet still question the idea that Starbucks needs to build awareness. This is more about a funny gimick and use of ad dollars than it is about selling drinks if you want my opinion.
