When I return from Brazil I’ll be tan, a little fatter, and no doubt buzzing with the effects of Brazilian coffee (I hope!). It’s going to be a fast trip despite the length of two weeks. I will try to post something up here but I don’t know whether I’ll have internet access. Two weeks without the internet will likely do me a lot of good as I spend a lot of time online for my job. It’s my first time to Brazil and I have a lot planned around my cousin’s wedding. I’ll be keeping my eye out for any coffee shops or coffee farms that might be interesting to tour. Places I’ll be visiting: Angra dos Reis Rio de Janeiro Sao Paulo Florianópolis Anyways, I hope everyone has a good time while I’m away. Browse the archives if you get bored however I’m sure you won’t as I have some posts written which will appear magically while I am away. Some of them are rather long and I hope you’ll take the time to read them. Lastly, check out Quest for Coffee. He’s growing a coffee plant in his house.
Jason Haeger Yes.. do try the Yerba Mate..it’s far more common (and much cheaper to boot!) than here in the US. Also drop by a churrasqueira.. meat there is much cheaper, and often better than here as well. Not to mention Brasilian pizza.. it’s something else entirely. Most of all, be safe and have fun. 0 Reply May 15, 2006
mz yes, try the matte by all means. also, if you have the time, eat some arabic (downtown, são paulo) and japanese food (liberdade, são paulo). you won’t regret it 🙂 0 Reply May 16, 2006
Chris Tingom Well unfortunately I didn’t try the Yerba Matte because I didn’t see these comments until I returned. Oh well. I did try the pizza though and made my way to more than one pizza shop. Brasil has a ton and it’s very good. I actually was never in the São Paulo vicinity except the airport (I am glad though because it isn’t that safe a city right now). And my days in Rio were shorter and more crowded with relatives for the wedding. But it was great fun and I did get to do a few coffee shop visits but not as much as I wanted. Honestly, I found it difficult to find coffee shops. But there were a few (I’ll post some photos here soon). I would definately say that a visit to Brasil and south america is highly encouraged. I’d go again and visit other countries like Argentina. 0 Reply June 2, 2006
