It has been a good year on Arizona Coffee. Here are some of my favorite posts and discussions from the year gone by. Also, a big thank you to all of the people who contribute to this blog — both sponsors, writers, and those who submit tips by email.

January

  • Cabin Coffee Espresso — Definitely one of the best coffee shops in Arizona and the one serving excellent food. Don’t let the name fool you, this is an upscale cabin look that is sure to delight.
  • Barista Jam Photo Wrapup — It is hard to believe that the Barista Jam was held in January. A year goes by quickly and people come and go.

May

  • Smoking Ban — The smoking ban takes effect across AZ and one local coffee shop offers some commentary to the newspaper.
  • Royalty and Trolls — We had some bad behavior on the web site at times, and I used these icons to keep everyone in check.
  • Arizona by the Numbers — I should probably do a rehash of this post in 2008 to update the numbers.

September

  1. Helvetica Mug — A cool coffee mug for font geeks.
  2. Matador Grand Opening Party — Video and photos from the Matador Party in Phoenix this year.

November

  • New Owner: Coffee Plantation — Readers pitch in with ideas for the new owner of Coffee Plantation on how it can be improved.
  • First time here? — After the Arizona Coffee interview was published in the newspaper, this post presented first time visitors with an overview of the site.

  2. Thanks for the wrap-up Chris, here’s wishing Arizona Coffee continued success in 2008!

Cheers to a great site and a good year, Chris. Keep it up! Just got back from NYC with a bunch of beans from McNulty’s and Porto Rico. If you’re ever out that way, I’d strongly recommend checking them out. McNulty’s has been in the same location selling coffee and tea since 1898. Quite a bit of character in a shoebox-sized establishment.

But here’s to more coffeehouses in the Phoenix Metro region! (and I look forward to ANY improvement to Coffee Plantation).

  4. Great stuff on the Jam, nice to see that again. Time for someone else to step up and organise another one. I’d bet that Trevino might be able to be convinced to organise if someone else would host…
I dunno, maybe not. I’d still volunteer, though!
(But I’d have to be able to play with the toys, and the swag had better be good! ; >)
