Remember that cold-brewed article from the New York Times a few weeks ago? Well, they’ve done another article on that very topic and this time provided a recipe. I thought it would be interesting to link up despite the fact that the recipe only makes two servings. Time: 5 minutes, plus 12 hours’ resting 1/3 cup ground coffee (medium-coarse grind is best) Milk (optional). 1. In a jar, stir together coffee and 1 1/2 cups water. Cover and let rest at room temperature overnight or 12 hours. 2. Strain twice through a coffee filter, a fine-mesh sieve or a sieve lined with cheesecloth. In a tall glass filled with ice, mix equal parts coffee concentrate and water, or to taste. If desired, add milk. Yield: Two drinks. NOTE: To make hot coffee, dilute concentrate one-to-one with water and heat in the microwave. As you can see, this recipe only yields two cups of coffee. Samantha I made this while with a friend (who spotted it in the times) this past weekend. It’s good but I’m not head over heels. Smoother than regular (hot) brewed coffee which was something I’m not a huge fan of (monotony apparently tastes better to me?). But definitely worth trying in a hot place like Phoenix. 0 Reply July 9, 2007
