Mike writes: I went to Brewed Awakenings on 40th St. and Bell and it is closed and replaced by another coffee shop. It is a used book store and coffee place now. Sorry but I did not write down the name. Maybe you could update list on your site? Thanks, You have a useful site here!
Kurls Hi Mike and other coffee lovers, The new and much improved cafe that took over the Brewed Awakenings spot is now under new (and fabulous) ownership and is called Beans, Books and Barks. It serves hand-crafted and most excellent espresso based drinks, as well as, fruit smoothies, chai tea lattes, hot apple cider to name only a few. They also have great pastries, bagels and fresh sandwich wraps and chopped salads. I highly suggest getting yourself a Mayan Mocha while you still can (it’s a seasonal beverage) and pair that with a slice of heaven otherwise known as Brown Sugar Coffee Cake. They have a great selection of quality used books and free wifi (with purchase, of course). Coming soon there is going to be a dog friendly patio although the dogs can be seen hanging out now in front trying to score a treat or steal bite of scone. The dog treats are all natural and are for sale. They even carry bottled Dog Water. It really is a great little gem in the neighborhood and you should check it out. Oh yeah, all the tips go to animal rescue. Treat yourself and help and animal. How could not love this place? Okay, I must do a full disclosure here: I happen to be the very first “Barkista” employed there but I’d still be a patron either way because it’s so cool. And no, my bosses didn’t put me up to writing this!) Hope to see you all there! 0 Reply January 31, 2008
Kim I have been to most of the independent coffee places in the Phoenix area, Beans, Books and Barks is my new home. The staff is great the coffee is as good as the staff, and there is not another place that caters to “mans best friend” the way they do with a dog friendly patio complete with lawn and water. 0 Reply February 1, 2008
