Legba wrote in to let me know that Coffee Plantation at Town & Country (20th St. and Camelback Rd.) has closed.

Went to Coffee Plantation at Town and Country (20th st/Camelback). Store was closed, and a notice taped up next to the door that the landlord has gotten a lien against the contents of the store. Guess there’s some back rent due.

I called the Scottsdale location to ask about this and they confirmed it has closed and it sounds like it will not reopen. The barista I spoke with indicated the other locations were not closing.

That leaves 4 other open locations. The Town & Country location was the most recent store to open on May, 2008. It was open for only 16 months.

This is a good time to mention that in November, 2007 the new owner of Coffee Plantation expressed interest in improving Coffee Plantation. How do you think they are doing?

  1. Centerpoint closed a few months back. So if you scratch that from the website then it’s 3, Shea, Westpoint, and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Yeah I was bummed about the closure as well. I went there a few time a week. I loved CP way back in the day, but I think this is probably the beginning of the end for the Plantation. I saw it coming though with small changes like discontinuation of branded cups, less pastry selection, always only being staffed by one person and the overall lack of cleanliness in the store.
