On October 10th there will be a casual Barista Jam held at Press Coffee in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a relaxed event geared towards baristas and coffee enthusiasts. If you’re interested in coffee and want to learn more please attend. I filmed this short video of Tom from Press Coffee talking about the event. The City vs. City event which was planned for October has been postponed. That event will have a different venue and their are going to be more organizers this time around. Who: Everybody! Baristas, people in the coffee industry, or people who wish to simply attend and learn more about professional coffee preparation. What: Talk about coffee, drink beer from a keg (provided by Press Coffee) Where: Press Coffee Food Wine 5410 E. High St. Suite 115 Phoenix, AZ 85054 Phone: (480) 419-6221 When: Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 3 pm to whenever. Why: Just a casual event to talk about coffee quality, education, and hold mini-competitions during the event. There will be free beer, espresso-drinks, and the whole event promises to be a great time. Cost: $5 to jump on the espresso machine, free to attend.
Todd If this event is anything like their previous events it should be a blast! I wish I could attend this one but I’ll be in Victoria, BC during this event. I know Chris will have loads of photos of this though! 0 Reply September 28, 2009
Chris Tingom Todd – too bad you will miss it, but Victoria BC is a beautiful place to visit! Check out the Butchart Gardens if you have the time, they are amazing. 0 Reply September 28, 2009
SK Just to clarify…..were just asking for donations for the free beer (obviously you’ll be carded). The impromtu latte art smackdown if there are enough participants will have a 1st 2nd and 3rd place….prizes possible. ALSO- if we get enough feedback, I’d like to get some T-Shirts made with sponsors and other shops listed…..hope to hear from you all….including the folks in Tucson!! 0 Reply September 28, 2009

David SB Sounds like a fun event, but Press is located in Phoenix, not Scottsdale. 0 Reply September 29, 2009
Psyd I hope that there is some education geared towards the SW, US, and WBC’s still. This would be the *perfect* venue for allowing folks to see what a competition run looks like before coming to the comp at Ron’s. If there is a barista that’s thinking about competing, and has his chops all ready, what a great dry run, too. He could go through the paces, and others could watch to see what it’s supposed to (or not) look like. With caveats about judging and time vs numbers of drinks and like that. Oh, I think I may play hooky and come up to play… 0 Reply September 29, 2009
SK ok….if I get enough feedback I’ll bust out the grill!!! Waiting for more peeps to make the move…lets go Arizona!! Todd..I know you like hearing this!!! 0 Reply October 2, 2009
Psyd Sorry Tom, I have to work. I really tried to suggest that I wasn’t available, but I really have no justification for leaving a show to go play. No professional, and no financial justifications… I thought about it, though. ; > 0 Reply October 5, 2009
