On my way to the office on Thursday morning I stopped at Lux to have a cappuccino and experience the new shop. Just about a month ago is when Lux moved from their old location a few feet away to the larger and more expansive building next door. My first impressions when entering was that the shop was amazingly detailed inside. It is apparent that a lot of attention and care has been invested into every corner of the store. It’s unlike any other coffee shop I have ever visited. My cappuccino was dry (the foam was airy), and that’s not how I like mine (To me, it seems like a waste of a perfect chance to make some frothy, creamy milk). But, I did enjoy a shot of espresso, thanks to Jeff Fischer, which was delicious. Enjoy some of my camera phone photos… which I’ve optimized to the extreme. Just when you think there are not enough chairs, you will stumble across another room with lots of nice furniture. The furniture is really nice, and they have lots of leather couches and chairs. Congratulations to Jeff Fischer, owner of Lux, and the rest of his crew on a successful launch! Lux Central 4400 N Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85012 (602) 696-9976
Dan I have been going to Lux ever since it opened back in ’02 or ’03 can’t remember the year. I have to say that it makes me sad to go there now. I thought the idea of expanding was great and I was excited and looking forward to it. First time I went to the new place it was chaotic. It was at night and the air was filled with smoke from something they were grilling in the kitchen. I don’t know about you but one of the things I love about going into a coffee house is leaving it with the smell of coffee on my clothes 🙂 I wish they would have opened the wine bar at a separate location or thought about kitchen placement better. The other thing I noticed is that the coffee doesn’t taste the same either. It tastes more bitter. Now I don’t know if it is due to using different beans or because they are using new espresso machines. I wish I could be more enthusiastic about the change but so far nothing about the new place seems like an improvement to the old lux. Well other than all the space and sitting areas. I will definitely give it another try though! I have been going there for so many years that it’s hard to let go so easily! 0 Reply September 17, 2011
Chris Tingom When I left Lux the other day I thought to myself how nice it was that I didn’t smell like a coffee shop. I guess, to each their own. 0 Reply September 17, 2011
