Local barista Gianni Assam (formerly of Cartel Coffee Lab, and other shops) is running a fully operational espresso bar in a place called Open Source Project. Its a mix of art, coffee, and music… and maybe a little bit of co-working. They’re having a grand opening April 29th.

Gianni wrote and provided some photos:

The Open Source Project is located on 1415 E University Dr. Tempe, AZ.(next to Tempe Yarn) We have a fully operational espresso bar with coffee from Cortez Coffee Company and we will serve all drip coffee freshly ground and hand poured.

We use the Highest quality organic milk (Organic Valley) and also are introducing a drink called the Gibraltar, commonly found in San Francisco and the Northwest. Our focus on quality and freshness will meet or exceed that of any shop in the valley as well as opportunities to get involved in the coffee community by attending cuppings and possibly roasting seminars.

Aside from coffee we will serve specialty summer drinks like fresh squeezed lemonade and sun tea. The OSP will also serve as a hub for an artist network program and gallery space for artist to premiere their work. Our Grand Opening will be April 29 and will show major local artists on canvas and on stage.

So, don’t miss the grand opening this Friday, April 29th at 8 pm.
