Whenever a coffee shop has a ‘house drink’ or a ‘drink of the month’ I just have to try it. So when I saw “The John Wayne” on the chalkboard at Village Coffee this morning I asked about it. They said it was two shots of espresso, vanilla, and cream. Why not? Simply stated, the vanilla was a little bit strong, and there was a lot of it (you can see it at the bottom of the cup). The layers are: Vanilla on the bottom, cream in the middle, and espresso on the top. However, for a sweet drink with a punch, it was really good! Village Coffee Roastery 8120 N. Hayden Rd. Reno As the guy who invented, or at least this version I hope everyone goes down there and tries it. It’s the John Wayne. John Wayne is awesome and I made a drink to match the man. 0 Reply July 2, 2012
Victor Looks very interesting. Does the vanilla come from a ground bean (or pod), or is it crushed?. 0 Reply July 2, 2012
Dylan Jung We do something similar but call it a “Shooter”. Layered and drank in one sip. It became kind of a bonding experience among a few of our regulars. 🙂 -1 Reply July 6, 2012
Mykey I remember learning a similar recipe from Gianni while working at OSP. We called it the 5 dollar shot. 0 Reply July 7, 2012
