On Saturday morning we packed up the car and headed over to Altitude Coffee Lab for breakfast and coffee. It was one of those late summer days where it was comfortable enough to sit outside on the patio. I’ll post some photos and a mini-review here soon, but wanted to share that this coffee shop has now opened.

Altitude Coffee Lab is a recent addition to Scottsdale, having only opened in August. They’re doing a great job and already have quite a following. The patio was packed with bicyclists (their is a popular bicycle and walking pathway that passes by the shop) when we were there.

They’ve been featured in KPHO with a video segment, and in The Business Journal. They have a roaster on site and are roasting coffees.

If you’re curious about the “lab” in the name, here’s their explanation:

Altitude will function as a true coffee lab, acting as a test space for rare and exclusive coffees, brewing and roasting methods. It will debut a new roasting system that will have the ability to customize the depth and flavor of customers’ gourmet coffee.

It’s an interesting name considering the other famous “lab” in the valley. I have an inquiry in to the owners about the “Altitude” part of the name, but have not heard back yet. Oh, and if you’re wondering, yes, that’s 0.2 miles from Village Coffee Roastery.

Thanks to Aaron Holland for the first tip.
