In the downtown area of Flagstaff, facing Route 66, is the entrance to Firecreek Coffee Company. This location opened in April, 2013 and just recently celebrated its 1st year in operation. Firecreek Coffee Company also has a location in Sedona, and previously had a location in Cave Creek. Firecreek Coffee has a fairly large roasting operation. On a recent weekend in June we were on our way to Arches National Monument in Utah, and from there over to Denver, Colorado. So, we naturally had to make our way towards Flagstaff. I knew immediately where I wanted to go — Firecreek! Upon first entering, the first thing you’ll notice is how spacious the room feels. It’s a massive building, with a beautiful coffee bar in the front with distressed wood panels of different colors. A beautiful red espresso machine greets you as you enter. The menu board is one of the few I’ve seen featuring an Espresso Set, which gives you coffee two ways — one with milk, and the other just espresso. One other cool aspect to this location is the interesting dark ceiling tiles. They’re almost a victorian flower design, and give the shop an old victorian feel. A deep red wall adds contrast, and reminded me of the locations in Sedona and their old shop in Cave Creek. Next, the coffee. I had my usual, a cappuccino, which came served in an 8 oz demitasse. The cappuccino had an average heart design in the pour, but tasted terrific. No complaints. The iced toddy was actually really bitter. Not sure what happened there, but it was a bit too strong.
