Our friends at Firecreek Coffee Company are hosting an event for the general public and for baristas and coffee professionals. The event is going to be held on March 30, 2014 at their location in Flagstaff, AZ. Signup is from 6:00 pm to 6:30, and the competition begins at 7 pm. Dear Reader, We cordially invite you to Firecreek Coffee Company’s second quarterly Latte Art Throwdown event: Sunday, March 30, 2014. For those unfamiliar with a “latte art throwdown,” it is a structured time for baristas and coffee enthusiasts alike to show off their pouring skills, wherein competitors are judged on four main elements: contrast, symmetry, position and complexity of the pour. Additionally, it is an opportunity to meet other industry fellows and have a real great time. The title of this quarter’s round is called “Throwdown at Sundown.” Because this is a newer event to the area, we want to make sure all participants and viewers feel comfortable and welcome. In the future we’ll be having a buy-in for those wanting to pour, with the buy-in going towards cash prizes for the winning competitors. However, for this round, we want to give everyone another chance to continue working on their pouring chops. So, this will be a friendly throwdown to help get everyone acclimated to the game. The event is free to all and open to anyone wanting to pour. If your whole team, or anyone of your crew wants to participate, we are asking for an RSVP to ian@firecreekcoffee.com; this will help us make the appropriate accommodations for your participation. No RSVP is needed if you merely wish to observe, but there will be a limited number of spots open for those wanting to participate in the throwdown. If anyone wants to practice on our machine, we ask you show-up at 6:00pm to sign-up for a slot in our bracket and take some practice pours. Sign-ups end at 6:30pm and the competition begins at 7:00pm on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Again, The event is free to all and open to the public. To help make the mood, we’ll have some great local musicians and DJ’s playing our stage. Furthermore, if your company would like to be named as a co-sponsor of our small event, we are looking to provide some small tokens of appreciation to those brave souls participating in the throwdown (e.g. gift card, mug, t-shirt, etc.). We will be supplying the coffee and milk for pouring. Our goal is to help contribute to the already strong coffee community in Flagstaff, and to facilitate building and sustaining relationships between coffee enthusiasts throughout Arizona. We are beyond excited to host this event and to see your pouring and dancing skills on Sunday, March 30, 2014. If you have any questions comments or concerns, please contact us ASAP. w/ care, the gang @ Firecreek
