Right in the middle of downtown Chandler is a new coffee shop named Peixoto Coffee. Pronounced as pay-sho-tow, the family name adorns this coffee shop, which has its grand opening today. You can tell the owners are very proud of the shop, and have put a lot of work into the coffee.

Peixoto Coffee is the only family-operation I’m aware of that grows their own coffee, imports and roasts it, and then sells it in their own cafe — especially in Arizona. Truly a “crop-to-cup” experience!

Coffee farm in Brasil

Peixoto has its roots in a farm in Minas Gerais, Brasil. The family has grown coffee for more than 200 years in the Alta Mogiana region and the Peixoto family still grows coffee today. In fact, the coffee sold at Peixoto Coffee comes directly from their own farm. I understand they are also sourcing coffee from around the world so they can offer a variety of coffee.

Locally owned in Chandler

The new shop has been co-founded by Julia Peixoto Peters and her husband Jeff Peters. Julia has a background in law, and is a lawyer from Chandler, AZ. Julia describes her family this way: “Coffee in my family and region is not only a business but a way of living, at the forefront of family gatherings, conversations, and pretty much everything else. ”

Jeff Peters is the head roaster at Peixoto Coffee and roasts coffee in the shop on their Primo Roaster. They are roasting and selling all of their own coffee in the shop. They currently have a house blend as well as an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe available for sale.

Coffee Lounge

The new location in Chandler boasts a dark black interior accented with brick walls, real barn wood paneling (or, it looks like nice barn wood), and large windows on two sides.

The furniture is a mix of different chairs, tables, and couches. They’re all new and comfortable.

I absolutely love the wood paneling on the coffee bar. It’s a gorgeous mix of multi-toned wood. It really helps to set the bar off. And, behind the counter is a massively high ceiling with custom shelving featuring photos from the Peixoto farm, as well as bottles, and various coffee gear for sale. All of this in front of a jet-black wall.

Towards the back of the shop is the coffee roasting equipment, as well as bags of green beans.

If you’re in Chandler, you’ll definitely want to stop in at Peixoto and check out the awesome coffee!

Getting there

There’s a huge private parking lot next door to Peixoto Coffee with free parking. The physical entrance is off of Arizona Avenue.
