Brian Shaler tipped me off this morning to the Ambient Persuasive Mug. I have to admit, I’ve not seen anything like it. With heat, the surface of the mug changes to display a different image. Used in this example, it displays the ocean waters rising over the iceberg.

An ambient eco-aware visualization cup as the external surface of the cup is printed with a second layer of heat sensitive ink that is revealed when hot water is poured into it. when hot water is poured in, the image of sea over land appears as a direct representation of the slowly heating waters on our planet.

  1. that looks really cool. I wonder how clear it comes out.

I also have a mug that depicts a world map, and when hot water is poured in the ocean levels rise to show what it would be like after global warming. I love it!
