I visited Lola Coffee on Thursday morning for the first time. It’s a coffee shop that just opened up on May 11 and is owned / managed by Daniel Wayne. He is the former owner of Lux Coffee and Lola Tapas (with his ex wife). According to Chow Bella, the two shops share a name and nothing more.

Sweet digs!

Lola is a 1200-square-foot space on Central Avenue, just south of Camelback (4700 N. Central). It’s just a half mile north of Lux. Hours of operation are 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 10 pm Friday and Saturday, and 8 am to 2 pm on Sunday.

A couple of observations:

  • They grind per shot and have a two group CONTI Xeos espresso machine.
  • Daniel Wayne (owner) has participated in a few latte art contests and apparently won first prize in one — I can’t remember the name of the contest.
  • They have free wireless internet and very comfortable seating.

Lola’s is off to a very good start! I’m sure it’ll quickly become a downtown favorite.

Lola is a neat experience. Too “put together” and nice for my liking. The espresso is good, but hopefully they will check out their machine, temperature of the shots was WAY to hot. Also, hopefully Daniel or someone can inform me of this….with great espresso, why would you ruin the taste with Fontana sauces (chocolate, white chocolate, caramel)?? Fontana is a Starbucks brand and is supposed to be used in their “We Proudly Brew” stores. This is a major disappointment to see an independent use such poor quality sauces and support the “BIG” man.

  2. I made my first visit to Lola this week. Nice people, nice atmosphere. The cappuccino was pretty average, but I’ll still drop in from time to time. I’ve still gotta give it to Conspire and Cartel for my favorite caps.

Could you please tell me where you bought the bar stools? Thank you
